Janet Aviola

Janet Smith Aviola followed Sr. Immaculata as St. Elizabeth Business Office secretary in 1980 and served as administrative assistant through 2012 while also directing Grant Hall catering services for St. Elizabeth and participating on a variety of committees for parish and diocesan activities. She was a staple in the school but also in Grant Hall, contributing much of her time catering fundraising and school events such as the Christmas Bazaar and the carnival to name a few. For more than 30 years Janet was the
personification of Benedictine Hospitality at St. E with her warm and welcoming ways, her nurturing spirit, and her listening heart. Janet received the Diocese of Wilmington Order of Merit Award in 2013. A model of kindness and Christian charity, she set an example for generations of St. E students to emulate.

Janet is part of a Viking legacy family which includes children Mary Claire Aviola McLaughlin '80, Joseph Aviola, Jr. '82, and Arlene Aviola Gallucio '84. Her alumni grandchildren include Megan McLaughlin ’17, Samantha Gallucio ’19, and Skylar Gallucio ’21.
